I am currently still working on narrowing down my research question. I am leaning towards focusing on tourist's perception of German identity versus a native German's perspective within the context of sites of commemoration. I am thinking of discussing the Wall, the Airlift memorial, and the book burning memorial.
Alternatively, I have also thought of looking at memorials made by certain artists, such as Micha Ullman, who is responsible for the Stufen Underground Memorial and Book burning memorial at Bebelplatz. Ullman is Israeli. I am currently looking into other German artists.
